The visual goal of the CAMP booth is to contrast the stark portraiture of Ghanian artist Idris Habib, to the bright and vibrant collages of Silvana Soriano, the bursting colors of Franck de las Mercedes tied together by the geometric and colorful textile works of Evelyn Politzer.

Three of the artists use fabric in their works – Habib paints on African fabrics; Soriano, in her collage works both paints and uses fabric to dress her characters; Politzer painstakingly weaves color throughout her textile works creating beautiful objects and installations. de las Mercedes creates blooming bouquets against a stark black background focusing on the colors used and the abundance of a spectacular void to draw attention to the possibility of possibility in an urban life.

The booth will look at these intriguing uses of textile and color and explore the different cultures and locations of the artists arguing both the richness of the textile arts and the use of color, as artists continually seek to create that unique artistic voice and practice. Key to the booth and its goal is also an exploration of color and how it is used in the works, not only for the visual effect but also as a marker of cultural identity.

THE CAMP WILL BE AT BOOTH #215. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW.
