Hou Guan Ting

Residing in Taiwan, Hou Guan Ting is an emerging fiber artist who work speaks on deeply cultural and personal themes with their use of their adding a deeply intimate and textural quality to their work.

When speaking on his most recent series, Guan Ting speaks:

"Stereotypes and discrimination have always been challenging issues regardless of the era. Therefore, the symbol used for this artwork is "?" representing uncertainty. It hangs there, awaiting a conclusion. While gender awareness is gradually rising and providing protection for the relatively vulnerable in society, are these rules and  safeguards the key to unlocking discrimination or do they further reinforce rigid stereotypes? Each scar on the body is a sharp gaze from the public. Despite curling up, there's still courage in throwing out questions."
