Each stroke influences the next in a controlled, spontaneous process that adds up to an alluring language. This intuitive way of working allows her to gradually build layers as the painting develops. Overbey's work is abstraction based on choice of forms and color relationships. Visceral consistencies are paired with vivid color. The bespattered colors pulse against an exuberant effervescence.
