Women's History Month at The CAMP Gallery

March 1 - April 15, 2023

CAMP founder Melanie Prapopulos entered the gallery industry over 10 years ago. As an artist herself, she approaches art like the Romantics, and believes that the artist is a prophet and speaks truths. She searches for the ways in which society is reflected in the works of the artists the gallery represents. As the gallery's director, she is always challenging people to ask themselves what they can learn from the artist.Considering the centuries of art history that name women as either subjects or fleeting details in the lives of great male artists, The Contemporary Art Modern Project prides itself on having a roster that is 72% women-identifying.Be it because we're a woman-owned and operated gallery, or because we identify with the breadth of intersecting perspectives related to the feminine experience (or both), it matters to us that we reflect the world as we understand it. The artists we work with are skilled, fierce, and genuine in their drive to correct this narrative error; their femininity takes various forms and meets at different intersections. We celebrate them and their work this Women's History Month.
