The White Foam #22, 2020
One of the newest additions to our repertoire of artists, photographer Giacomo Giannelli brings his background in storytelling within the frames of his works, taking the transitory and giving it permanence, evocative of having been fascinated by all forms of art from a very young age. His strong influences are concepts related to the passage of time, moods, and the link with one's origins. His observation is a coming into contact with the soul of the subject, regardless of its animate or inanimate nature.

"... I wanted to represent the animals in all their beauty and through the strong shadows, free them from the enclosure in which they were locked up. Restoring dignity and spirituality, the gaze of the goats in some shots is hypnotic and at times full of mysterious energy.”

Stories of progress like the majestic growth of mold spores in Rotten or the mechanical workings disturbing rural life in Petrol Station are the artist’s expertise in story crafting. They have their own connection to our perception of what makes something have purpose, or be truly alive, as his implied gaze shifts from subject to subject.

The diverse representation of nature and the nature created by human hands in Giannelli’s work gives purpose to formerly ignored aspects in the passage of time.
