Mendel Treitel Canadian, b. 1994

Mendel in Born in 1994 in Montreal, Quebec, was raised in an Orthodox Hasidic household where his father served as a Rabbi. Throughout his ten years of rabbinical school, Mendel discovered his passion for drawing, creativity, and expressing his inner voice.

In 2017, after completing his studies, Mendel opened an Instagram account and began sharing his unique drawings, delving into the world of art. He seized an opportunity to apprentice with Jewish folk artist Michoel Muchnik in Brooklyn, New York. This experience allowed him to further develop his artistic skills. In 2019, with the encouragement of family, friends, and his growing Instagram following, Mendel organized an exhibition showcasing his artworks from previous years. The response was overwhelmingly positive, leading to representation by two galleries in and around Montreal. His artistic talent also garnered international recognition and sales through the internet and social media platforms.

In 2020, following his marriage to his Australian wife, Goldie, Mendel relocated to Sydney, Australia. There, he continued to expand his artistic practice, holding two solo exhibitions and collaborating with Cadrys, Australia’s largest vintage rugs dealer. This collaboration resulted in a unique collection of hand-painted rugs, which were subsequently acquired by the Merivale hospitality group.

Mendel currently resides in Sydney, where he continues to explore and evolve his artistic practice
