Nature, Line and Experience: An online solo exhibition featuring the works of Joao Alexandrino - JAS

15 February - 15 April 2024
Through line artist JAS takes the viewer through paths laden with both experience in nature and experience in the nature of humanity.
Drawing the viewer into carefully orchestrated vignettes of experience, artist JAS presents moments bordering on the surreal in their composition but quite firmly in the realm of reality. Using his distinct artistic language, Jas explores moments, defines and describes them through his lines heralding in someways back to a time of artistic discovery and innocence. "Hidden in The Forest" is one such piece - creating a composition not unlike of Adam in the Garden, Jas presents- instead of an apple, or woman as temptation - an iguana suggesting we should seek more in nature. More answers can be found in nature than in existential questionings of existence and morality. Jas also sets nature often as the action in his works, for instance: "Rain Wish," where the desire for nature motivates the action, and the very creation of the work.

All of the above and the works from JAS are neatly encapsulated in his lines, which vary in depth and direction, but never stray from their confidence. What the viewer can take away from their experience with his works, is that there are more ways towards self hood and existence, but they do not always or only reside in the abstract, but more in the real.
