Elena Monzo Italian, b. 1981

The most recurrent topics in Elena Monzo’s work are the society of ephemeral and the woman, both prevailing elements in each artistic construction, described in each of her obsessions; the art of show off to comply with the mass culture standards, the maniacal attention to details, the need of hanging to a perfect, flawless image. The artist aims to underline the decay of the society, totally dependent on an aesthetic of “showing off”. The artist utilizes for her works materials like fabrics and glitters, which represent the tie that forces people to be dependent on one another. These materials unite the different parts of the bodies creating a chaotic and visionary whole.
