The series uses the well-known Russian icon of the Matryoshka to make reflections on the woman’s body. On one hand it shows how a woman’s body remains recognizable even when reduced to an essential form, affirming how femininity is more based on self-awareness than on the display of a body. On the other hand it uses the figure of an unusually empty Matryoshka to arouse a subtle provocation on the binomial woman\mother, claiming the right to be a woman regardless of the choice of procreating.
